Taylor Acoustic Guitars
Taylor acoustic guitars come all the way from California, and are known world-wide for their solid-body and semi-hollow electric guitars, and hollow-body acoustic guitar creations. Bob Taylor, the current operator of the business, built the company with Kurt Listug in 1974. They had met while repairing guitars for the company The American Dream. When owner Sam Radding sold the company hollister , Taylor, Listug and a certain Schemmer bought it out and changed the name of Westland Music Company, but later changed it to Taylor Guitars so it had a more American feel to it. They created prototypes and had dealers check them out, but did not sell much. In fact, production was stagnant at 10 guitars weekly, but without sale. The year was already 1981 and they continued to make guitars, constantly tweaking and fine-tuning, but still could not sell any, and they didn’t have enough to market their products. With the little money they got from selling pieces to single dealers, they were able to grow into a major guitar factory which has employed more than 500 employees by 2008. Taylor guitars have the so-called new-technology neck, which is a bolt-on neck wherein a long stretch of wood supports the fretboard until the 19th fret. Taylor Guitars are also known for their high-quality guitar created from pallets which have are old. These guitars have truly proven that quality doesn’t lie in the price of the material used. The GS8 is one of the most gorgeous guitar models from Taylor. First, let’s talk about its woods. The top is created with Sitka Spruce while the sides with Indian Rosewood. The red sides against the creamy top make for a great combination. Indian rosewood creates balanced and clear sound with superb bass qualities. This wonderful bass, piano-like sound is also contributed by the guitar’s shape which is of a higher waist and a lower bout, both created wider for full middle and balanced high notes with a stable volume and low-end sustain. The guitar’s finish is glossy overall and is ultra-violet cured. The inlays, finally are simple yet elegant abalone dots.
